Switching to export mode then back to edit mode resets currently selected layer.

When switching back and forward from edit mode into exporter mode (to check how my model is looking) -and then back to edit mode it reverts the layer selection to whichever layer is topmost. This is annoying as sometimes i'll start working again not realising i'm painting in the wrong layer!
